World AIDS Day (WAD) happens on 1 December each year, acting as a reminder to the public and Government that HIV has not gone away and that there is a vital need to increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education around HIV.
Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment, there are laws to protect people living with HIV and we understand so much more about the condition than ever before.
The day also acts as a time to remember and celebrate the lives of those before us, and commemorate their part in helping us to understand more about the condition with their sacrifice as well as bringing together communities from all different walks of life.
So join us, come together, educate and celebrate this World AIDS Day with Trade.
We have once again teamed up with the local venues to host a variety of events which include:
- The annual Red Ribbon Remembrance event at Rainbow & Dove - 6:00-8:00pm
- World AIDS Day bingo with Miss Thunderpussy at Dover Castle - 5:00-7:00pm
- Rapid HIV Testing with the Kwik Prick team at the Trade office - 5:00-9:00pm
Red ribbons are available from all of these locations during their opening hours and your donations are kindly welcome.
