The primary purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery of a three-year Lottery-funded project (Trans* Thriving: Mind, Body and Spirit) which aims to improve the wellbeing of trans* and non-binary people across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. In an increasingly hostile environment, the project aims to create more opportunities for trans* people to stay fit and active, stay connected with others, and feel good about themselves. The postholder will be responsible for:

  • Conducting a series of community engagement events with trans* people to build support for the project, map existing community knowledge of safe and inclusive fitness and wellbeing services, and identify gaps in existing provision;
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a communications strategy for the project;
  • Recruit, train and mobilize a team of trans* community volunteers to support the project through community organising activities;
  • Conducting a community listening exercise to identify what types of fitness and wellbeing activities (in the broadest sense) trans* community members would like to see created locally;
  • Organise and host a series of taster and take-over events where trans* community members can safely try out new wellbeing activities;
  • Support trans* community volunteers to launch five new community-led social and support groups across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland;
  • Conduct on-going monitoring and evaluation of the project

If appointed at Band 4, there will be potential for promotion to Band 5, subject to performance and training, after at least a full year in post.
